(Sources: AppleDaily 20091022)Yesterday evening (21/10/09), we witnessed again the long-time hidden HK football fans come back to the stadium again. It made the first time "all ticket sold out" for an official match after the reconstruction of the stadium since 1994.
It was an AFC Cup semi-final (second leg) match between South China (Hong Kong) and Kuwait Sports Club (Kuwait). South China must win the match (except 2:1) in order to qualify into the final. Although they had a full house (a total of 37,459) people support, a late goal from the Kuwait side marked a failure of this local giant football team could not open a new page of the contemporary football history of Hong Kong.
However, I would say this was an important moment for our local football lovers as seeing the red flag flying up high above the stadium again. With more & more business investment on local football, intense competition between clubs, increasing quality of players and matches, local football fans are very eager coming back alongside the green.
"We did not run away! Keep On! Hong Kong Football!!!
