Personally speaking, my top ranking on watching football games is of course English Premier League. My favorite team is Red Devils and England is also one of my favorite national team as well. Andy's asking why the league attracting major attention. I can think of the following reasons:
1) Many big club's bosses willing to spend huge sum of money, purchasing any top players around the world. Many national football stars then appear at the same time in the Premier League.
2) Individual football clubs, like ManUtd., Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal are more & more popular nowadays in Asia.
3) The speed and rhythm of the English matches are well-known of their fastness. It provides the utmost excitement for the audience.
However, why the England's national team had been providing far from satisfactory performance in national scale competition, especially during World Cup?
1) The top English players are separated widely in various teams under the major leagues. They are getting bigger and bigger amount of salaries from the clubs. It is reasonable for them to put their focus on their club first.
2) The exciting Premier League for each season, plus several types of European Cup competitions, put a great burden and exhausting the top players.
3) Some scholars claim that the main reason, is that the native bad temper of English people makes their performance in important matches into ruin.
England got only one time World Cup Championship in 1966, which she was also chosen as host for the first time. Will there be the second time hosting and winning the Cup? We can wait and see.
